The abrupt ending of the thornmass, where the stony brambles terminate with only air and darkness below. From this abyss extend several immense pillarlike stalks that appear to be supporting the great cluster of the Thorn-Night from below. It is possible that these are in some way the origin of the organic growth.

Far below it is possible to make out pockets of dim blue light, the color of a bloodless sky.
