The transparent crystal stalks rise to a chipped cap that has seen many seasons. The appear in groves beneath the husks of shattered glass spires, or sprout from the toppled-down and dissolving remnants of mighty pullucid boles. Within their small, scarred bodies shines a primitive, instinctual intelligence forever whispering one word: “grow.” When the moon is new, they shed minute, dust-like fragments from their surfaces, glittering glass spores, and further disintegrate themselves until there is nothing left at all.
